What are sessions with Liz Hansen Photography like?
I specialize in making sessions fun and easy for everyone - kids & parents. We will play interaction games to get natural smiles and keep the kids engaged. Many clients report that it is the easiest photo shoot they’ve ever done! 7-10 days after your session you will receive a link to view/ download your online gallery. You may also purchase prints and wall art from the online gallery. I also offer a complimentary in-home consultation for purchasing prints.
Where will we shoot?
There are so many gorgeous outdoor locations for photos shoots in the North Shore area, including lakeside, streets, forest preserves, parks or even inside your own home. I have many favorite places where I love to shoot and am happy to make suggestions based on the look you want in your images. I will bring lights if we shoot indoors to make sure that we have proper lighting.
What should I wear?
Most importantly, wear something you feel comfortable in! If you’re uncomfortable, it will show in the photos. Make sure your outfits fit the weather and the location. For example, if you’re planning to shoot by the lake in the summer, go with sundresses, shorts and bare feet. For a shoot in the woods with fall leaves, I would suggest jeans, boots, scarves and vests. Always avoid lettering and large logos on clothing. Jewel tones (deep purple, navy, burgundy) look good on almost anyone. Cream photographs better than bright white. Ladies, I suggest that you wear some make-up for your shoot (at least some mascara and a little lip gloss), even if you don’t normally wear much make-up.
If you’re planning a family shoot, pick Mom’s outfit first, then the girls’ outfits. After you have the female outfits and accessories nailed down, then pick the boys’ and Dad’s outfits. Try to find clothes that coordinate but aren’t matchy-matchy. Both patterned and solid clothes can look great in photos – in fact, I love a combination of both! Don’t stress too much about the outfits – the photos will be more about your beautiful faces than the clothes!
